Aromatica

Synthetic fragrances, potential causes of dermatitis or allergy, respiratory problems and source of phthalates (endocrine disruptors).
Sulphates (SLS, SLES, ALS, ALES), potentially irritating to skin, eyes, respiratory system and classified as toxic by many organizations.
Cocamidopropyl Betaine, often used in products for children but capable of developing, during its processing, toxic substances such as nitrosamines.
Parabens, preservatives widely used as they are cheap and antiseptic, but various studies suggest that in the long term exposure to these substances increases the risk of skin irritation and allergies as well as interfering with the hormonal system.
PEG emulsifiers: PEG emulsifiers (risk level EWG 3-4) are synthetic ingredients obtained with an ethoxylation process in which ethylene oxide can produce 1.4 dioxane (carcinogenic).
Chemical sunscreens (e.g. oxybenzone, avobenzone and ethylhexyl methoxycinnamate), dangerous substances and at risk of causing allergies and hormonal disorders.
Phenoxyethanol: a very common preservative but some studies suggest that it can cause irritation and allergies.
Mineral oils: although widely used in cosmetic products, there is controversy over whether they can damage the skin by blocking the pores and preventing it from breathing. In addition to this, the mineral oil could be contaminated with polynuclear aromatic hydrocarbons (PAH) during the refining process.
Silicones (Dimethicone, Dimethiconol, and Cyclopentasiloxane): although they are considered quite safe they are accused of blocking the pores of the skin and having a bad environmental impact due to their low biodegradability.
Ethanolamine: Triethanolamine (TEA), Nonethanolamine (NEA) and Diethanolamine (DEA) are substances that act as emulsifiers or pH regulators but can cause allergies, be irritating to the eyes and scalp, cause blackheads and disturb the hormonal system.
